Do you know how to create Data Model and Report from CSV Input File in Oracle Fusion?

In this blog, we are going to see how to create Fusion BI Data Model using CSV File as a Data Source

First prepare the CSV file with your data. You can use any of the 4 delimiters
Comma(,)
Tab( )
Semicolon(;)
Pipe(|)
When I open the CSV file using Notepad++, the data looks like below
To upload the CSV file to BI Data Model, select below option in the "Data Sets"
Enter a name for the Data Set, Select "Local" and upload the file.
If your data has headers, then check the "The first row is a column header"
Select your CSV Delimiter, in my case I have selected "Comma(,)"
As we did not include headers in our data, the Data Model assigns default header columns Column1, Column2.... etc
This is how the Table View of the Data looks like. Save Data Model, Click "Save As Sample Data" button and Click "Create Report" button
Select "Use Report Editor" and click "Finish"
Select "Blank" Layout (Portrait or Landscape) based on your need
Select "Insert" tab and click on "Data Table"
I am going to create XML output. There is no need to add all the Columns for XML Output. Add any one of the Columns, Save the template and Click Done
Click on "View a List" and select the "Default Format" based on your need. I have selected "Data(XML)" as Default Format and saved the Report. If Data(XML) is not available in the Default Format, add Data(XML) to the Output Formats and then try. Once done Save the Report
Now run the report once by choosing Schedule option to generate the XML Data
Click on "Output" tab and check whether the output format is correct
Click on "Schedule" tab, by default the Frequency will be "Once" and "Run Now" radio button is selected. Just check that and click "Submit" button on the Right. Enter a name for the "Job" and click ok
Click on "Home" and then click on "Report Job History"
Click on the Job Name
Click on the Output Name. XML file will be downloaded
The output XML file looks like below
I hope this explains how to create Fusion BI Data Model using CSV File as a Data Source. If you have any questions, please post it in the comments section.
